What is the sony planar t fe 50mm f 1 4 za good for?

The Sony Planar T* FE 50mm f/1.4 ZA is a fast prime for full frame Sony E cameras. At 50mm it gives a natural, standard view, and f/1.4 gathers a lot of light, so it's well suited to low light and to blurring backgrounds for portraits. I like it for that kind of subject-focused shooting. If you read the primes guide, you'll see why a fast prime like this is worth having alongside a zoom.

It also works on APS-C Sony bodies, but there it frames like a 75mm lens. That makes it a bit long for general use, though still lovely for tighter portraits. Full frame bodies such as the Sony a7 III are the natural partner. Check the full details on the lens page.
