What is the pentax smc da 12 24mm f 4 ed al if good for?

The Pentax smc DA 12-24mm f/4 ED AL [IF] is a wide zoom for APS-C Pentax K cameras. On those bodies it frames like 18-36mm on full frame, so it suits big landscapes and scenes where you want to fit in a lot. At f/4 it's lighter and cheaper than the f/2.8 zooms, which doesn't matter much for landscapes, where you'll usually stop down to f/8 or f/11 anyway. It isn't stabilised, so keep your shutter speed up in dim light.

I'd pair it with the Pentax K-3 Mark III or the Pentax KP. It also works on the Pentax K-1 Mark II in APS-C crop mode, at fewer megapixels.

For the reasoning behind wide zooms for landscapes, see the landscape guide.
