What is the canon ef 85mm f 1 4l is usm good for?

The Canon EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM is a portrait lens. The 85mm focal length is the classic full-frame choice for people: it gives a flattering perspective, a comfortable working distance, and soft backgrounds at f/1.4. It's also stabilised and has autofocus, so it works handheld in dim light.

On a full-frame body like the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV or Canon EOS 6D Mark II, it frames as 85mm. On an APS-C body such as the Canon EOS 90D, it behaves like roughly 136mm, which makes it a tight headshot lens with plenty of reach.

If you mostly shoot people, read portraits before you commit.
