What are the alternatives to the canon rf 800mm f 11 is stm?

I don't have other lens pages to compare against this one, so I can't name specific swap-in models from the catalogue. The 800mm f/11 is a very long, slow prime, so the most useful alternatives are the kinds of lens the Wildlife and sport guide recommends for reach. Long zooms like 100-400mm, 150-600mm and 200-600mm are the usual answer. They're far easier to carry and frame with than a fixed 800mm. A big fast prime like a 600mm f/4 is wonderful, but it's very heavy and very expensive.

If you shoot an APS-C body, the same guide notes that a 100-400mm gives roughly 150-600mm full-frame reach. The Sensor sizes page explains how that crop works.
