I don't have a page for the Canon 100mm f/2.8 on this site, so I can't compare the two fairly. Here is what I can tell you about the Tamron.

The Tamron SP AF 180mm f/3.5 Di LD (IF) Macro is a life-size macro lens with a long working distance, so you can photograph small subjects without crowding them. It's not stabilised. It fits Canon EF and Nikon F mounts, and on full frame it frames as a true 180mm. On a Canon APS-C body it frames like about 288mm.
