You asked

Sony or canon or nikon or fujifilm for a first camera?

I don't have Canon or Nikon bodies on this site yet, so I can't compare them fairly. Sony only comes up here for its RX100 compact, which is a good pick if you want something that fits in a pocket.

For most people, my advice is the same whichever badge you choose: a mirrorless camera with an APS-C sensor and its kit zoom, then spend the spare money on lenses. Mirrorless autofocus finds and follows eyes, and that matters more than brand loyalty. Your first camera walks through the reasoning.

Of the Fujifilm bodies I cover, the Fujifilm X-H1 is the one I'd point a beginner toward, mainly for its in-body stabilisation, though its big grip makes it bulkier than most. Choose the system whose lenses you can afford and whose handling feels right in a shop.
