Sony a6000 vs sony a5000?

The a5000 and a6000 share the same APS-C sensor size, the same Sony E mount, and the same 2014 announcement. Neither has stabilisation in the body, so you'll want a stabilised lens for slow shutter speeds. The main difference is resolution: the Sony a6000 has 24.3 megapixels to the Sony a5000's 20.1.

I'd pick the a6000. It's a long-running bestseller, it's an easy way into Sony APS-C on the used market, and the extra resolution gives you more room to crop. Choose the a5000 only if you find it clearly cheaper and don't mind the lower resolution.

Either way, the lens you put on it matters more than the body. The first camera guide explains why.
