Should I upgrade from the sony a7 iii?

Probably not, unless you're hitting a specific limit. The Sony a7 III is still a very capable full-frame camera with 24.2 megapixels, and as I say on Buying used, a body one or two generations old is often most of the camera for much less money.

If you need more resolution for big prints or heavy cropping, the Sony a7 IV has 33 megapixels and is the all-rounder, good at both stills and video. The Sony a7C keeps the a7 III's 24.2-megapixel sensor in a smaller body, so it's a change of size rather than image quality.

My advice is to look at lenses before the body. If you're missing a focal length, the full a7 III lens list shows what fits your camera today.
