Should I upgrade from the canon powershot g3 x?

I can't point you to a specific replacement, because this site doesn't have a catalogue of upgrade options for the G3 X. What I can do is help you decide whether the jump is worth it.

The G3 X's 1-inch sensor is at the premium end of compacts, and its 8.8-220mm lens covers roughly 24-594mm on full frame, so it already gives you a lot of reach. If you're struggling with low light or want more background blur, a larger sensor is the real step up. The Sensor sizes guide explains what APS-C and full frame would change. If you're happy with the results, there's no need to upgrade yet.

If you do want to move up, Buying used is my favourite route. A camera one or two generations old often delivers most of the performance for much less money.
