Should I switch from the canon eos 77d to mirrorless?

If the 77D is still doing what you need, there's no rush. Its lens list is long, and those EF lenses are worth keeping. When you do move, I'd go mirrorless. The first camera guide explains why: you see the exposure before you shoot, the autofocus finds and follows eyes, and every major brand is putting new lenses into mirrorless mounts.

If you're comparing formats, the sensor sizes guide shows how APS-C stacks up against the others.

Old manual lenses are a cheap way to try mirrorless first, since its shallow mounts make adapting them easy. See the lenses guide. I can't confirm from here how Canon EF lenses behave on a particular adapter, so check that before you buy.
