Pentax k or nikon f?

I don't cover Nikon F cameras on this site, so I can't compare them with Pentax K for you. If you're weighing the two, the Nikon F is an older film-era system, and you'd want a page that covers it directly.

On the Pentax side, I have three DSLRs to look at:

• Pentax K-500: a 16.3-megapixel APS-C DSLR from 2013. It's the K-50 without weather sealing, so it's the one to skip if you'll shoot in rough weather.
• Pentax K-S1: a 20.1-megapixel APS-C DSLR from 2014.
• Pentax K-3: a 24.4-megapixel APS-C DSLR from 2013, the highest resolution of the three.
