Is the voigtl nder nokton 55mm f 1 2 sl iis sharp wide open?

I don't have test results for this lens, so I can't tell you how sharp it is at f/1.2. My page on the Voigtländer Nokton 55mm f/1.2 SL IIs covers the specs: it's a manual-focus prime for Nikon F, and on full frame it frames as 55mm. Wide-open softness is usually a matter of reviews and sample shots, so look for those before you buy.

What I can tell you is what f/1.2 does. It gives very shallow depth of field, so focus precision matters more than usual. The aperture guide explains the light and blur side, and portraits shows how thin that focus zone gets. If you shoot a lot wide open, stopping down to f/2.8 is a sensible compromise.
