Is the ttartisan af 56mm f 1 8 good for portraits?

Yes, it's a good portrait lens, with one caveat. On an APS-C body it frames like about 84mm on full frame, which is right in the range I like for portraits. You stand back far enough that faces look natural, and it's comfortable to work with.

The f/1.8 aperture is the caveat. My portraits guide suggests a 56mm f/1.2 to f/1.4 for this job on APS-C, so you'll get a little less background blur than those faster lenses give. It's still plenty for most people shots. It's autofocus and not stabilised, so keep your shutter speed up.

It fits Sony E, Fujifilm X and Nikon Z bodies. For an APS-C pairing, try the Fujifilm X-T30 III, the Sony a6700 or the Nikon Z50 II. For more on choosing a portrait lens in general, see the lenses guide.
