Is the tamron 17 70mm f 2 8 di iii a vc rxd good for landscape?

It's a usable landscape lens, but not my first pick. Its 17mm wide end gives a view on APS-C cameras that is closer to a standard zoom. On an APS-C body it frames like 26-105mm on full frame, so you lose the big skies a landscape shot usually wants.

The guide's own reasoning points the other way. You'll usually shoot at f/8 to f/11, so the f/2.8 aperture doesn't buy you much here, and f/4 zooms are lighter and cheaper for the same job. The landscape lenses section recommends a wide zoom first, around 10-24mm on APS-C or 16-35mm on full frame, then a standard zoom like this one for most scenes.

If you already own this lens, it will cover most of a landscape trip. If you're buying for landscapes, start with a wide zoom and add this one later.
