Is the sony planar t fe 50mm f 1 4 za sharp wide open?
I don't have sharpness test results for this lens, so I can't tell you how crisp it is at f/1.4. Here's what the site does cover. It's a 50mm prime for full frame Sony E cameras, and on APS-C it frames like about 75mm. Its f/1.4 aperture gives thin depth of field, so focus has to land exactly on the eye, and at that width a face can be thinner than the focus plane. Stopping down to f/2.8 gives more room for error with two people at different distances.
For the lens's full details, see the Sony Planar T* FE 50mm f/1.4 ZA page. For how aperture affects blur and light, read the lenses guide, and for portrait focus advice, see Portraits.
