Is the sony fx2 worth it?

The Sony FX2 is a 33-megapixel full frame mirrorless camera announced in 2025. It's a Cinema Line video body with a tilting viewfinder and in-body stabilisation, so it's aimed mainly at people who shoot video. Whether it's worth the money depends on what you shoot. Here's my take on full frame: it earns its place for low light, events and very shallow depth of field. For travel, street or most hobby photography, a good APS-C camera with good lenses is enough, and you'll carry it more.

If the FX2 suits you, I'd start with the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II as an everyday lens. Add the Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II for wide scenes, or the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II when you need reach.

If you're still deciding on your first camera, start with the buying guide.
