Is the sony fe 50mm f 1 4 gm worth it?
The site doesn't list a price for the Sony FE 50mm f/1.4 GM, so I can't say whether it's good value at today's cost. On a Sony E body it's a fast, autofocusing prime. On full frame it frames as a natural 50mm, and on APS-C it acts like a 75mm with the depth of field of about f/2.1.
I'd call it worth it if you shoot people or low light on full frame and want the shallow look that f/1.4 gives. My guide says the 50mm is the best value lens for people, and a cheaper f/1.8 version does that job well, so if money is tight, start there. If you do portraits and want more separation, compare it with the Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 GM. For the wider picture, see Portraits and Your first lenses.
