Is the sony e 16mm f 2 8 good for landscape?

The Sony E 16mm f/2.8 is a reasonable landscape lens, but it's not a great one. On APS-C it frames like 24mm on full frame, which is a standard wide rather than the big, sky-filling view most landscapes need. My guide suggests a wide zoom, around 10-24mm on APS-C, for that job. The lens's f/2.8 aperture is also wasted here, since you'll usually shoot at f/8 to f/11 for depth. What it does offer is a small, light pancake that's easy to carry on a hike.

If you want a wider view on a full-frame Sony, the Samyang AF 16mm f/2.8 P FE gives you 16mm as marked. For the reasoning behind lens choice, see the Landscape guide.
