Is the sony a7s good for beginners?
I wouldn't start with the Sony a7S. It's a 12.2-megapixel full frame body from 2014 with no stabilisation in the body, so you'll need stabilised lenses for slow shutter speeds. It was designed for low light and video, and that low resolution limits it for stills.
For a first camera, I'd go with a mirrorless camera with an APS-C sensor and its kit zoom. If you already have an a7S, it's a fine way to learn. These lenses from its catalogue suit everyday shooting:
- Sony FE 28-60mm f/4-5.6 for a small, light walkaround lens
- Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS for one lens that covers most situations
- Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS when you want to reach further
