Is the sony a7 good for beginners?

The a7 can work for a beginner, but I wouldn't pick it as a first camera. It came out in 2013, has no in-body stabilisation, and its autofocus is slow by today's standards. For most people, my first camera guide points to a recent mirrorless body with an APS-C sensor and kit zoom, because the money goes further in lenses.

If you already have an a7 or want full frame, pair it with stabilised lenses so slow shutter speeds stay sharp. The Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS is a good all-round choice, and the Sony FE 28-60mm f/4-5.6 is a smaller, simpler kit lens.

If you're buying used, the Sony a7 II is a cheap way into stabilised full frame. Read buying used before you commit.
