You asked
Is the pentax k s1 good in low light?
The K-S1 has a 20.1-megapixel APS-C sensor and stabilisation built into the body, which helps when you're shooting handheld in dim rooms. I can't give you a clean high-ISO score for it. Expect it to trail full frame by about a stop at the same framing and aperture. Sensor sizes explains why.
The bigger low-light gain usually comes from fast lenses. Primes are the cheapest way to get one. From the K-S1 list, I'd start with:
- Pentax HD D FA* 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW for portraits and general use
- Pentax smc DA* 55mm f/1.4 SDM if you want a little more reach
- Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art for wider indoor shots and events
If you're new to primes, Lenses explains the trade-off with zooms.
