You asked
Is the pentax hd da 16 85mm f 3 5 5 6 ed dc wr worth it?
I think it's a solid everyday zoom if you shoot Pentax K on APS-C. On those bodies it frames like a 24-128mm on full frame, which covers most of what a first lens needs: street, travel, family, and a bit of landscape. The 16mm end is wide enough for big skies, as I say on landscape.
It isn't stabilised, and at f/3.5-5.6 it gets dark quickly past 50mm, so it's not the lens for dim rooms. If you want more reach, the [Pentax smc DA 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 ED AL [IF] DC WR](/gear/lenses/pentax-smc-da-18-135mm-f-3-5-5-6-ed-al-if-dc-wr/) is the other APS-C zoom I list for Pentax K. Full-frame owners should read Is full frame worth it? first, since this lens is made for APS-C.
