You asked
Is the panasonic lumix gm1 good for video?
My Panasonic Lumix GM1 page doesn't cover video, so I can't tell you it's good at it. Judge it against the video guide's vlogging checklist: a screen that flips to the front, a microphone input, light weight, and a wide lens. The GM1 is small and light, but its page doesn't mention a flip screen or a mic input, so check those in the manual before you buy.
The bigger catch is stabilisation. The body has none, so you'd need stabilised lenses for handheld walking shots. For the wide view the guide recommends, around 16-20mm full-frame equivalent, these lenses from the GM1 list fit:
- Panasonic Leica DG 9mm f/1.7: like 18mm on full frame
- Panasonic Lumix G 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye: like 16mm, but heavily curved
Whatever you pick, budget for sound from the start. The audio section explains why.
