You asked
Is the panasonic lumix gh7 worth it?
The GH7 is a video camera first. It has internal ProRes RAW and no recording limits worth worrying about, and its 25.2-megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor is plenty for stills. If you shoot a lot of video, it's a strong pick. If you mostly want stills, it's still good, but you should compare it with other cameras on price, since I can't speak to cost here.
Its small size and the 2x crop factor make it easy to carry. For an everyday kit, I'd pair it with:
- Panasonic Leica DG 12-35mm f/2.8, a sharp standard zoom that covers 24-70mm equivalent
- Panasonic Lumix G X 35-100mm f/2.8 II for portraits and distant subjects
- Panasonic Leica DG 25mm f/1.4 II for low light and shallow depth of field
If you want a sense of when the system makes sense, the sensor sizes guide explains the tradeoffs.
