Is the nikon af s 70 200mm f 2 8g ed vr ii good for travel?

Not really, as a travel lens on its own. The Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II is a telephoto zoom, and my travel guide asks for a versatile zoom that covers wide to short telephoto. This one starts at 70mm, so it misses most street scenes and interiors. It's also big, and on a travel trip that matters.

If you want a telephoto for the trip, the Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f/4G ED VR is the lighter, cheaper choice. Either way, I'd pack a standard zoom alongside it. The travel picks are a better place to start if you want one lens for everything.
