Is the nikon af s 105mm f 1 4e ed worth it?

Yes, if you want a fast portrait lens and already shoot Nikon full frame. On full frame it's 105mm at f/1.4, which gives soft backgrounds and handles low light well. My first lenses guide points to an 85mm for portraits, so this is a step longer. That suits headshots and subjects you want a little distance from. It isn't stabilised, so the wide aperture does the low light work. I don't have a price for it here, so check it against what you'd spend on a first lens.

On full frame, the Nikon D750 and Nikon D810 make the most of it. On APS-C, like the Nikon D7500, it frames like 158mm, which is long for most people. I'd only buy it for that body if you mostly shoot distant subjects. For portraits, portraits has more on choosing a focal length.
