Is the leica sl3 s good in low light?
The site doesn't give a low-light rating for the Leica SL3-S. It's a 24-megapixel full frame camera with phase-detection autofocus and in-body stabilisation, and full frame is the format that gathers the most light. For dim rooms, events and night shots, the full frame guide says a full frame body is worth it.
Low light depends just as much on the lens, and the fastest lenses on the SL3-S page include:
- Leica Summilux-SL 50mm f/1.4 ASPH, a classic low-light standard lens
- Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN Art, very fast for indoor and night work
- Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art, good for portraits in dim light
A wide f/1.4 or f/1.2 aperture lets in far more light than a kit zoom, which is why primes are worth a look.
