You asked
Is the leica q2 better than a phone?
Better at some things, not at everything. The Leica Q2 has a 47-megapixel full-frame sensor and a fixed 28mm f/1.7 lens. That combination should help with the things my first camera guide lists as the real advantages of a camera: low light, motion, and background blur that comes from the lens rather than software.
It won't beat your phone on zoom, though. The 28mm lens doesn't zoom, so if you want to photograph wildlife, sport or anything far away, a phone's zoom or a camera with a telephoto lens will serve you better.
It's also a lot of money for a single focal length, so think about whether you'll really shoot at 28mm. If you're not sure, I'd start with the cheaper options on my travel picks before committing to a Q2.
