Is the leica q typ 116 good for beginners?

Not really, in my view. The Leica Q (Typ 116) has a fixed 28mm f/1.7 lens, so you can't change how wide or tight you shoot. That suits someone who already knows they love that view. Its 24-megapixel full frame sensor and stabilisation are more than enough for learning, though.

If you're leaning toward Leica, the Leica Q2 is the newer version of the same idea, with 47 megapixels and weather sealing. If you want a more hands-on experience, the Leica M (Typ 262) is a simpler rangefinder without live view or video.

Any current camera from a major brand is a good place to start. Size, handling and which lenses are available matter most, so hold a few before you buy. To save money, consider buying used. For the basics, see Your first camera.
