Is the leica noctilux m 35mm f 1 2 asph worth it?

The Noctilux 35mm f/1.2 is a lens for people who will use that wide aperture on purpose. It's full frame, manual focus only, and not stabilised, so it rewards slow, deliberate shooting in low light or where you want very shallow depth of field. If you mostly shoot travel, street, or casual hobby photography, I'd save the money. My sensor guide makes the case that lenses and light matter more than the last stop of sensor performance.

It fits a long list of full-frame Leica M bodies, from the M9 through the M11 family, so check the lens page for your body. I don't list a price here.

If you want a cheaper route to a similar look, my portraits guide recommends a 35mm f/1.8 or f/1.4 for environmental portraits, and a 50mm f/1.8 as the one lens to buy if you only get one.
