Is the canon rf 85mm f 1 2l usm ds worth it?

The RF 85mm f/1.2L is a specialist lens. Its f/1.2 aperture gives very shallow depth of field and soft, creamy backgrounds, and its coating smooths out-of-focus highlights, though it lets in a little less light than the aperture suggests. It's a full-frame lens, and it works on most current full-frame RF bodies, such as the Canon EOS R6 Mark II and Canon EOS R5. On APS-C bodies like the Canon EOS R7, it frames like about 136mm.

For most portrait work, I'd start with the classic 85mm f/1.8, which gets you most of the look for far less. If you shoot people in low light and want that extra light and separation, the f/1.2 earns its place. Read portraits and whether full frame is worth it before you decide.
