Is the canon ef 16 35mm f 2 8l iii usm good for astrophotography?
The site doesn't have an astrophotography guide, so I can only speak to what this lens offers. Its 16mm wide end is the useful part for the Milky Way, since it takes in more sky, and f/2.8 gathers plenty of light. The catch is that it isn't stabilised, so you'll want a sturdy tripod and will be working with short exposures.
Pair it with a full-frame body, since that's the sensor size to pick for low-light work. The Sensor sizes page explains why. I'd look at the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV or the Canon EOS 6D Mark II from this lens's list. For the general wide-angle side of things, the Landscape page is a good read.
