Is medium format worth it?
Medium format is worth it only if you need the extra detail and tonal richness and you're happy to carry a bigger, heavier kit. If you're not sure, it probably isn't yet.
If you do want to try it, the Fujifilm GFX 50S II is the cheapest way in, with a 51.4-megapixel sensor and lovely files. If you want more resolution, the Fujifilm GFX100 II and Fujifilm GFX100S II both have 102-megapixel sensors.
For most hobby work, my honest view is that a good APS-C camera with good lenses will serve you better, and you'll actually take it with you. Read Sensor sizes before spending on a bigger format.
