Do I need to shoot raw as a beginner?

The site doesn't have a page on shooting raw, so I can't give you a proper answer from here. The closest is Your first camera, which covers when a phone stops being enough and what to buy first. That's the best place to start if you're deciding what kind of camera suits a beginner.

Raw is a file format question more than a camera question, and it's worth reading up on it separately before you buy. If you're mostly here to pick a camera, tell me what you want to shoot. I can point you to the right starting page, such as Travel, Street, or Portraits.
