Can I use adapted lenses on the pentax k 5?

Yes. The Pentax K-5 uses the Pentax K mount, and old manual K lenses fit it directly, with no adapter needed. Lenses from the Pentax K mount family can be used on the K-5 this way.

If you want a classic prime to start with, the Pentax smc FA 50mm f/1.4 is on the K-5's lens list and is a sensible everyday standard lens. For the full range of what fits, see the Pentax K-5 page.
