Best telephoto lens for the nikon d7500?

For the D7500, I'd start with the Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II. On this body it frames like 105-300mm, and the f/2.8 aperture helps in dim stadiums and under cloud.

If you need more reach, look at the Nikon AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR, which covers about 300-750mm, or the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports, which goes to roughly 900mm equivalent. Both are big and slower at the long end, so expect to carry them and use fast shutter speeds.

The D7500 has no in-body stabilisation, so pick a lens with VR or OS, as all three have. For how to choose, see wildlife and sport, and sensor sizes explains why telephotos are bulkier on full frame.
