Best portrait lens for the sony a7?

For portraits on the a7, I'd start with the Sony FE 50-150mm f/2 GM. It's fast enough for soft backgrounds and sharp at the wide end, and it gives you room to step back from your subject.

If you want more reach, the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II is the classic portrait zoom. It's big, but the stabilisation helps, and the a7 has none in the body. For something lighter at a similar reach, try the Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2. The Samyang AF 60-180mm f/2.8 is another option if you want a manual-feel budget choice.

Don't spend everything on glass, though. As the portraits page says, light matters more than the lens. A window and a little patience will improve your pictures more than any upgrade. For the broader lens plan, see Lenses.
