Best portrait lens for the pentax k 50?
For portraits on the K-50, I'd go for a lens around 75 to 105mm equivalent. Here are three from its list:
- Pentax smc DA 50mm f/1.8: the cheap starting point, about 75mm equivalent.
- Pentax smc DA* 55mm f/1.4 SDM: about 82mm equivalent, with the wide aperture for soft backgrounds.
- Pentax HD DA 70mm f/2.4 Limited: about 105mm equivalent, small and light for longer working distances.
Start with the 50mm f/1.8 if you're on a budget. The 55mm f/1.4 is the one I'd pick if you want the most dreamy backgrounds. Before you buy glass, read portraits. Window light will do more for your photos than any lens. For the wider picture on lens choice, see lenses.
