Best portrait lens for the leica tl?

For portraits on the Leica TL, I'd start with a fast prime in the 30 to 35mm range. On APS-C that frames roughly like a 50mm on full frame, the classic portrait view.

My first pick is the Leica Summilux-TL 35mm f/1.4 ASPH. It's 52mm equivalent and f/1.4 gives you a soft background. If you want something a little tighter, the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary is 45mm equivalent and also fast. For head-and-shoulders shots from further away, the Leica APO-Vario-Elmar-TL 55-135mm f/3.5-4.5 ASPH gives you room to back off.

Whichever you choose, light matters more than gear. Put your subject facing a window and expose for the face. See portraits for more.
