You asked
Best portrait lens for canon ef?
For portraits on a Canon EF body, the lens matters more than the body, so start there. Two lenses on this site suit portraits, but I can't confirm either one's mount from my catalogue listing, so check the mount on each page before you buy.
- Voigtländer Portrait Heliar 75mm f/1.8: a fast prime for full frame, a classic portrait focal length.
- Canon RF 85mm f/1.4L VCM: a lighter 85mm for full frame. It's a Canon lens, but the site doesn't list it as EF.
Remember that Canon EF lenses adapt to RF bodies, not the other way round. Whatever you choose, light beats gear: face a window and expose for the face. For a broader view, see portraits.
