Best first lens for sony e?

I've only written up a couple of Sony E lenses so far, so this is a short list. If you shoot full frame, the Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 is the portrait lens I'd buy first. For wide scenes, the Laowa 10mm f/2.8 Zero-D FF has autofocus on Sony E, which is handy on a wide lens.

If you're starting out on an APS-C body, the honest first lens is the kit zoom that comes with it. Money goes further in lenses than in bodies, so read Your first camera before spending more. Then choose your next lens for what you actually shoot, starting with Portraits or Landscape.
