Best first lens for nikon z?
For a first lens on a Nikon Z camera, I'd start with the Nikon Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II. It's a full frame standard zoom that covers wide scenes through to portraits, and it's lighter and much quicker to focus than the first version.
Save the Nikon Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S II for later, when you know you need reach for sport or wildlife. It's about a quarter lighter than the first version, but it's a big, expensive step up from a first lens.
My budget advice still holds: a cheap fast prime, like a 50mm f/1.8 or its equivalent, is a great addition for people and low light. The lenses section has more on choosing one.
