Best first lens for nikon f?

I don't have any F-mount lenses on the site yet. The lens pages I have cover Nikon's Z-mount zooms, like the Nikon Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II, and those won't fit an F-mount body. So I can't name a best F-mount lens with any confidence.

The general advice still holds. Put the money into a lens rather than the body, and start with a cheap fast prime for people and low light. On an F-mount body that's usually a 50mm f/1.8. The budget split on my first-camera page explains the reasoning, and the lenses section is the place to look for specific options as I add them.
